Taryn Wenske

Taryn Wenske is a contemporary artist based in Lockhart, TX. In recent works, Wenske has leaned into romantic daydreams to create whimsical paintings that evoke a sense of time and place, or lack thereof. Wenske’s artwork is characterized by unique floral motifs that blend vibrant, earthy colors with fluid, organic forms. Her pieces evoke emotion through a balance of texture, movement, and depth, often resembling natural elements like blooming flowers, leaves, and other botanical imagery.

When painting, she will hold on to a distant memory or story. Close your eyes and try to put yourself in that place where maybe you felt first love. When you laid out under the stars. When you laughed with friends. The details may be hazy, but that feeling remains, and that emotion is resounding. This is what Wenske evokes while painting, and she hopes this is felt when people find her work. Inspiration oftentimes comes from books - romance novels, literary fiction, memoirs - the stories that stick will end up as the backstory and emotional drivers of her work. Natural and botanical elements will often influence the color palette. This mix of abstraction, floral inspiration, and romantic energy invites viewers to connect emotionally with the artwork and tug on threads of memory.
