Paul McCrerry

Paul McCreery is an Austin-based watercolor painter working in a pop-realist tradition. McCreery captures the quiet drama of the world around him, with slice-of-life moments rendered in saturated color, geometric patterns, and distorted perspectives. Drawing inspiration from the bold color sensibilities of Wayne Thiebaud and the sun-drenched domestic scenes of David Hockney, McCreery’s paintings invite viewers to find beauty in the familiar everyday life. McCreery has had a twenty-year career as a professional illustrator, and his transition into fine art has already earned significant recognition. McCreery is a recent recipient of the Onderdonk Purchase Prize at the San Antonio Art League and Museum, and his work is now held in its permanent collection.
