PAUL FERNEY

PAUL FERNEY
Paul Ferney is a New York based figurative artist. He is the second youngest of six kids, raised in Northern Utah. His mom encouraged them to appreciate the details and create art. His brothers all became engineers, though artists at heart. He became an artist but an engineer at heart. He lived in California and Paris before ending up in New York. For over 20 years Ferney’s work reckons with memory in a time of prolific image making. The scenes of Utah inspired his love of the land, Paris for city, and California for the ocean. His paintings utilize distortion and simplification through a painterly technique of rich color, simplified strokes, and texture to hold onto the best of life and stay there for as long as possible. He received a bachelor of fine arts degree from Utah State University. He has exhibited nationally in New York and California. His work is included in multiple private collections across the country.
