GREGory GOVE

GREGory GOVE

Born in St. Louis, Gregory spent the majority of his career based in Chicago working with architects, interior designers, and corporate art consulting firms, creating art for public and commercial spaces, for a variety of notable clients, including General Motors, Elvis Presley Enterprises. Michael Jordan, Whirlpool, MillerCoors, and many national and international hotel brands such as Hilton, Sheraton, and Marriott among others. Gregory also ran an 8 year long interactive mural program for Blue Moon Brewing Co., traveling throughout the U.S. creating murals at music, culinary, street and craft beer festivals in every major  city and beyond.

Throughout his career as a commercial artist and muralist, Gregory has always experimented with his fine art mostly as a secondary pursuit, taking part in group exhibitions, auctions and commissions. He has always considered his fine art an integral aspect of his life.

Having reached a state of clarity in his painting over the past few years, along with the  drive to create purely from within himself,  his primary focus now lies within that realm.

With the basis of this recent body of work being primarily shape, and surface, he plays with layers of depth and texture to create spatial resonance as well as balance and imbalance of emphasis, often guiding the eye of the viewer to particular areas of the compositions, with no defined agenda, but rather as cues to what he considers the seeds for internal and external dialogues.
